Tableau users:How to put the bar shape and the line chart in the same chart?

Ada:Do you want to put two dimensions in the same worksheet?

Tableau users:Yes, is there such a chestnut?

Indeed, in our daily data analysis work, it is often necessary to compare multiple indicators. These indicators can be presented from multiple dimensions on the same worksheet, which is an intuitive and effective way to display.

So how do you present multiple metrics on a single graph?

thisThe "Take a Chestnut", Ada's Tableau trick to share with everyone is how the same chart presents multiple metrics.

Considering the habits of everyone, here are three ways to implement them.

Specific steps are as follows:

【First: the fusion axis】

Make a [Fusion Axis] view. Here we take two metrics as an example.

In this way, we can compare "Sales" and "Profit" on one map.

【Second: two axes】

Our metrics usually have different scales. In the above fusion axis view, the scales of “Sales” and “Profit” are not much different. When the scale of the metric is quite different, it will change the shape of the view and affect the effect of the view. When you have two different scales in your metric, you can choose to make a [two-axis graph].

Here, we can see that the scales of “Sales” and “ProfitRatio” are very different, and a trend of the two is well expressed on a graph through the two axes.

【Third: the combination chart】

When expressing multiple metrics on a single view, we can customize the tag type for each metric. This is what we usually call [combination map]. Let's make a two-axis diagram of "Sales" and "Discount" first.

Next, we can edit the two views "Sales" and "Discount" in the tag card pane.

First, we open the "Sales" view and change its tag type to [Bar Chart]

Then we open the "Discount" view and change the tag type to [Line]. Then the following combination chart can be obtained.
