Tableau's powerful data analysis capabilities allow us to analyze all the data we want to analyze, not just the amount, but also the relationship.

When we need to clarify the relationship between people or things, the network diagram is the most obvious way.

So, can this relationship diagram be implemented in Tableau? The answer is yes.

In this issue of "Cite a Chestnut", the Tableau technique that Ada wants to share with you is: easily get the relationship graph.

Specific steps are as follows:

Step 1:data preparation

To facilitate everyone's learning, we use a simple Excel data: character relationship data.

Step 2:Make a chart

Import the data and convert the Relationship field to dimensions.

Drag the x and y fields to the columns and rows, respectively, and modify the measurement method to average.

In the Tag Card pane, change the tag type to line.

Drag the Name and Relationship fields to the route and detailed information tag cards, respectively.

Drag another y field to the line, and change the measurement method to the average value.

In the second picture, change the mark type to circle.

Drag the Name field to the color-coded card and select Dual Axis.

Open the first picture in the tag card window, drag the Name field to the color, and adjust the size; open the second picture, drag the Name field to the label, and adjust the size.

In this way, a network diagram is ready.

If you want to replace the dots in the chart with a representative picture, just insert the shape. How to insert a shape? Click to know Give a chestnut! Tableau tips (16): How to insert custom shapes
