In the 31st issue of "Holiches," we sharedHow to make a field a dynamic background。Many small friends gave me a message: How did the chestnut's first moving chart (below) be made?

In fact, a similar dynamic graph is to let the graph play like an animation, making the data alive and suitable for trend analysis.

When we want to analyze the correlation between many data points, using the dynamic graph function to observe the continuous changes of a series of views is more effective than staring at a whole view, and it is easier to see the relationship between the data points.

So how do you create a dynamic view? Here, we need to use TableauPage Features.

In this issue of "Give a Chestnut", the Tableau technique that Ada wants to share with you is: Create your dynamic view with the Page function.

For the convenience of learning, we use the supermarket data that comes with Tableau.

Specific steps are as follows:

Step 1:create a play menu

To use the dynamic play feature, Tableau needs to drag and drop the view based on a changed field into the page box.

Hold down the Ctrl key (the Mac's command key) and drag and drop the "Month (order date)" column into the page box. At this time, there is one more playback menu on the right side of the view. The curve of the original view area also displays only one point at the initial date.

Step 2:select the animation mode

There are three ways to play the Page function in Tableau:

(1) Jump directly to a specific page

This is equivalent to jumping directly to a date: by clicking the drop-down menu button, you can directly select a time, and the view immediately jumps to the view of that date.

(2) Manually adjust the playback progress

There is a Back and Forward button on each side of the drop-down menu button. Clicking is equivalent to turning the page backwards or forwards. You can also manually slide the view to a page using the slider below the date.

(3) Automatic page turning

Below the drop-down menu, you can see that there are two page-turning buttons, which are page forward and page backward. Click one of them to automatically forward or backward. In the middle of the left is the pause button, and on the right is used to adjust the page turning speed.

Step 3:Change the icon to a circle

In the tag bar,IconChange to "circle" to better display the historical change track.

Step 4:set the play menu

In the play menu, clickDisplay historyDrop-down menu, respectivelyMark to show the history ofSelected as "all", willlengthAlso set to "all", willdisplayChange to "track"

Now let's try the dynamic effects of the chart!Click the Forward Play button to observe the dynamic trend of sales and profits.
