1. Create a bar chart

Open Tableau Desktop, connect "Example - Supermarket" data source, create a new worksheet.

Drag and drop the dimension "Category" to drag and drop the metric "Sales" to the column, and then drag and drop the dimension "Category" into the color of the "Tag" card. The following column chart appears in the working table view.

2, create parameters

In the "Data" pane, right click on the dimension "Category", select "Create" - "Parameters" in the drop-down menu. In the pop-up dialog box, name the parameter: Category parameters, select the data type as: string.

3, create a calculation field

Right-click on the "Data" pane, select "Create" - "Calculate Field" in the drop-down menu. In the pop-up dialog box, the calculation is named: subcategory (), type function:

IF [Category Parameters] = [Category] THEN [Subcategory] Else '' End

Then, the created calculation field "subcategory ()" also drags and dropped.

4, set parameter operation

Below, you need to set the parameter operation. Click the Top Menu Taba, select Operation. In the "Operation" dialog box that pops up, select Add Action.

Then, in the "Edit Parameter Action" dialog box that pops up, this action is named: parameter 1, select the source worksheet as: Worksheet 1, select the target parameter: Category parameters, select the field as: Category.

This completes the settings of the parameter operation. At this point, the chart can be drilled:
